A YOUNG musician with a distinctive approach to playing the acoustic guitar will be supporting two of the greatest names in folk music at the Lincoln Folk Festival on Saturday September 20.
Elliott Morris, 18, from West Ashby, will be joining legendary stars Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, along with accordion player David Gray for the concert at Westgate School.
The talented youngster is quickly becoming a legend himself, being noticed by chart-topping stars such as Newton Faulkner who hailed him as 'wicked, awesome' after meeting him at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
"He heard me playing a song and before long we were having a jamming session, swapping ideas," he said.
His style is different from most. He uses his guitar as a percussion instrument as well as a stringed one, creating a unique sound to accompany his own songs.
Playing at the Lincoln Folk festival, supporting acts he describes as: "really big idols of mine" is an exciting prospect for the young talent.
But despite his hype, his feet remain on the ground. "All I want to do is play music to an audience," he said.
The summer has been a busy one so far, with performances at various folk festivals across the country – including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Nottingham's Headstock Festival and Boston's Party in the Park in front of 10,000 people.
He has a new EP coming out soon entitled 'Be Alone in the Dark'.
