PEOPLE living near the proposed site for a new community park on a former tip in Hemingby Lane, Horncastle, have said they have concerns about its boundaries.
A landscape consultant from East Lindsey District Council spoke to people at the War Memorial Centre in North Street, Horncastle, on Thursday about the new park plans.
Although many people were excited by the prospect, those living on the boundari
es of the site were worried about problems such as parking, access and security.
Home owners on Stamford Homes’ Bell’s Yard estate in Horncastle are among those with concerns.
They pay a management company for the upkeep of the roads, sewers and an area of open space and pond on the boundaries of the park site.
The park plans show that there will be no clear boundary between the park and their green space.
Simon Fawcett, of South Wolds Lane on the estate, said: “All of the residents are worried the boundaries of the park will be crossed over and people will be parking outside their houses. I’m not against the park I am just worried about it expanding around the actual pond, which we have to pay for.”
Gerry O’Neill, who chaired the Horncastle Ahead Steering Group for the original park feasibility study said: “There are things that they have to address as part of the planning process.
“Hopefully ELDC will adopt this land from Stamford Homes and put it on the council tax.”
But a spokesman for ELDC said it had no plans to adopt the additional piece of land or fund it through the council tax system.
