PRINCE William has been made Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Coningsby.
The Queen announced the appointment earlier today, Thursday, along with titles for other senior members of the Royal Family.
He has also become Patron of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at the base.
Group Captain Stuart Atha, station commander at RAF Coningsby, told the News: "I am absolutely delighted at this news.
"When Prince William visited earlier this year he was enthusiastic and impressed by the diverse range of activity here at RAF Coningsby, from the venerable aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to the world beating Typhoon.
"It is therefore a great honour and privilege to welcome Prince William as our Honorary Air Commandant, and also as Patron to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
"I very much look forward to showing Prince William more of what we do, and introducing him to the exceptional people, military and civilian, who work here."
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "The Queen has been pleased to approve new Royal Air Force honorary appointments in recognition of the strong links between the Royal Air Force and the Royal Family."
Flying Officer Wales was awarded his RAF wings in April at RAF Cranwell.
At that time he was spotted dining at the Golden Dragon Chinese restaurant in Woodhall Spa, enjoying a drink at the Bluebell pub in Tattershall Thorpe and checking out some of the aircraft at RAF Coningsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
His great aunt, the late Princess Margaret also held the honorary title at RAF Coningsby.
