Council makes apprentice awards list
The authority has been nominated in the BT Macro Employer of the Year award for those who employ more than 5,000 people.
The county council scheme has recruited 250 apprentices, including 43 who will start in September 2014 as part of its commitment to create 500 opportunities.

Hide AdCoun Brian Ridgway, the council’s cabinet member for council services said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for the hard work we do to help support young people into work in Derbyshire in these difficult economic times.
“Apprenticeships are a key part of rebuilding the local economy.”
“We are committed to helping young people into employment to learn a range of skills right across the council.”
The National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers.

Hide AdThe regional winners will be announced at a ceremony organised by the National Apprenticeship Service at the East Midlands Conference Centre on 2nd September.
They will then go through to the national final on 13th November.
There, the highest-scoring entries will feature in the acclaimed England’s top 100 apprenticeship employers list.
