Horncastle Town Sunday side played a well fought-out game to maintain their 100 per cent record in their first four games of the Sunday league season, with a 2-1 win which moved them to the top of the table.
It was Jerusalem who started the game brighter as Town seemed very lethargic.

The visitors opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a free-kick from the edge of the area, taking a deflection into the net.

The goal spurred Town into action and they started to take a grip of the game. Chances fell to the front pairing of Money and Baxter.

Smith started to pull the strings in midfield and a goal seemed likely. It came right on the stroke of half-time when Baxter was tripped in area and Tony Edwards stepped up to fire home the resulting penalty.

Town maintained the tempo during the second-half as the visitors found themselves increasingly pinned back in their own half, a second goal however, eluding Town.

Jerusalem occasionally threatened from set-piece situations but the home side edged in front with 10 minutes remaining as Jack Baxter ran on to a through ball and held his nerve to hit the winner.
