THIS keenly contested cup tie was much closer than the score might suggest.
Although Town had nothing to show for their efforts it was a much improved performance.
The first half was very even with Town's back line coping well with the threat posed by the home side's strike force.
Chris Johnson and Enderby were outstanding at the heart of Town's defence and clear chances were at a premium.
Town started the second half brightly with Low prominent down the left and his cross found Edwards in the box but he could not direct his header on target.
Both sides continued to play well but Town were seeing an increasing amount of the ball with Jackson and Oliver Johnson influential in midfield.
With 20 minutes remaining, Town took a deserved lead when Marshall's excellent cross was expertly lifted over the advancing keeper by Low.
Town were controlling proceedings but were punished for a slack piece of play as they allowed the opposing left-back to advance to the edge of the penalty area unchallenged.
The ball broke loose and it was fired low into the corner to bring the sides level.
Within two minutes Harvest had taken the lead when Cotton was deceived by the flight of a corner and inexplicably pushed the ball into the net. Rawdon and Baxter replaced Smith and Ollie Johnson but the game was effectively over when Harvest added a third goal to make the result look much more convincing than it was.
Town will be disappointed to have lost but encouraged by their overall performance which was much improved.
On Saturday Town are away again as they travel to play Cleethorpes Reserves in a league fixture.
