Horncastle Town U14s lost this County Cup tie to a very good side from Scunthorpe.
The game started with both sides looking evenly matched, but the Horncastle defence soon came under increasing pressure.

The speed and skill of the opposition's forwards brought goals at regular intervals but it wasn't all one way with Town, sponsored by Myers Bakery, working hard and creating plenty of chances themselves.

In the second half Horncastle acquitted themselves much better.

The defence tightened up, which gave the other lads confidence to go forward. More chances came and went and it would have been an injustice for Town if they did not score.

Their persistence finally paid off when Ryan Callahan picked up a loose ball on the left and with the outside of his boot hooked the ball over the keeper into the far corner of the net.

Miles Hanson had a shot well saved and to finish the game off in style Harry Baxter picked up a loose ball and hammered into the back of the net. Man of the match went to the hard working Harry Baxter.

Team: Daniel Burn, Josh Burton, Oliver Myers, Callum Low, Jonathan Dyas, Shane Grooby, Ryan Callahan, Harry Baxter, Jack Oxley, Miles Hanson, Grant Fixter, Ryan Elmhirst
