HORNCASTLE Town U14s started their league campaign on Sunday with a home defeat to Welton B.
A slow start was their downfall conceding two goals in the first ten minutes.

After this initial shock, the Town lads worked their way back into the game and after several dangerous attacks pulled a goal back.

Harry Baxter picked up a loose ball, drifted into the box and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.

The game became very even with both sides creating chances but unfortunately for Town Welton scored again to make it 3-1.

With half-time fast approaching Horncastle pulled a goal back when Ryan Callahan played in Shane Grooby.

His shot hit the bar but Harry Baxter followed up and fired home the rebound.

The second half followed in the same pattern but some poor marking from Town allowed Welton to go 4-2 up.

Horncastle pressed forward in numbers to get back in the game but Welton broke quickly to add another goal to make the final score 5-2.

Neal Burn, the players and parents would like to thank Myers Bakery for sponsoring the new kit.

Team: Daniel Burn, Josh Burton, Callum Low, Oliver Myers, Jonathan Dyas, Shane Grooby, Ryan Callahan, Josh Bell, Jack Oxley, Ryan Elmhirst, Harry Baxter, Miles Hanson.
