A NEW caravan and camp site could open beside Jubilee Park in Woodhall Spa when the existing site in the Park closes.
A storm of controversy blew up in the village when people running shops and services realised their trade could be severely hit by the planned closure.

Hundreds of people signed a petition to East Lindsey District Council asking for the site to re
main open.
ELDC councillors Mick Harness and Craig Leyland took up the cause and have now confirmed that a local investor is seeking to establish a quality caravan and camping site on land immediately adjacent to Jubilee Park.

The executive board of ELDC will be asked to keep the current site within Jubilee Park open until the end of the 2009 season to ensure a 'seamless progression' between the Jubilee Park site closing and adjacent site opening, maintaining visitor interest and local community benefit.

The investors have long-established local interests and are very concerned that Woodhall Spa should continue to have a caravan and camping site within the village boundary. While the proposal will be a commercial venture, it will also be of local community benefit and would not interfere with any annual events held on the adjacent land, the councillors told the News.

Both councillors have been given an assurance by ELDC tourism portfolio holder Coun Adam Grist that the decommissioning date for the site has been delayed to allow for plans to progress.
