A MINUTE'S silence was held at the start of the Woodhall Spa and District Branch of The Royal British Legion's August meeting in respect of Fiona Lea, Derek Paul and Carl Barton.

Steve Hall, vice-chairman, announced that tickets were on sale from John Egleton for the Harvest Supper on
September 9.

Entertainment will be provided by Andrew Cullen. Members were asked to buy tickets as soon as possible.
Steve announced that future events included a most interesting talk on October 14 by Andrew Cullen on his working life at Longleat.

The AGM will be held on November 11 and the Christmas Party and bumper Christmas Draw will be held on December 9. Prizes will be gratefully received by Nina Gaunt.
The annual Summer Fete held on July 19 raised £475.26 for the Poppy Appeal.

Thanks are due to Nina Gaunt and Linda Aitken, the various stallholders and volunteers on the day for their hard work.
A quiz by John Egleton followed and was won by The Money Baggers, followed by Team Oaklands.

John was treated to a round of applause and cheers in appreciation of his excellent quiz.
